2017....VT actual attendance 68.7% of announced attendance......


And that is better than many schools. See linked article. I do not see this trend stopping anytime soon. At some point, sooner than later, many schools will reach a financial tipping point and they just will not be able to sustain the outlays.

The inevitable spin aside, I think 2019 will be a very financially challenging year for VT. Between continued diminishing fan interest, new tax law and ridiculously bad 2019 home schedule.....I would think ticket sales/donations will be down significantly. It will be even worse if 2018 turns into a real nightmare (lose to UVA/miss bowl)....ODU aside. 20 (maybe 10) years from now college football as we know it will be completely different.
